The Case
Finding a Path for Growth
A travel agency specialized in cultural travel programs asked LX Futures to analyze its options for growth.
LX Futures provided insights: the majority of the customers interested in culture travel were women.
A weak signal, an emerging phenomenon, was that there is a growing number elderly women (50+) who travel either solo or choose for a group trip.
LX Futures interviewed 25 customers and discovered that there are two major reasons why older women travel: positive emotions associated with travel, and growing economic independence that makes it possible.
The major reason that holds women back from travel is the lack of safety net, especially when traveling alone.


The Solution

LX Futures has helped develop a framework for travel arrangements for elderly women, utilizing international network of the
Skysill Travels: tour guides, B&B owners, drivers.Together we came up with two types of travel programs:
- Solo travels with local contact points
- Thematic small group travels with a travel guide
All Travel Info in One App
LX Futures has developed a travel app that provides all the needed information and administration for the travel. It contains train/plane tickets, detailed information on lodgings, car rental info, contact info of the local guide, contact info of the travel group members. When testing the app with the users, the immediate response was: ‘All I need is in here’.
